Destiniy Bullis

I became very passionate about birth advocacy and support after my birthing experience with my first born. That experience led me to be the doula that I am today, and gave me the ability to help birthing mothers in the areas that they most need support in.

Friday morning I woke up and our day started normal. Tk and I were talking about doing the sneak peek test the following week since the earliest you can do it is 6 weeks & I wanted to wait until 7. We were eager to know the gender of our fifth baby, and be able to share our excitement with the kids. We hadn’t announced publicly that we were expecting, but I had already called our midwife and had started dreaming of what our growing family would look like.

Friday evening I started spotting after having cramping the past few days. I knew it wasn’t good. I took another test and the lines were extremely faint. My heart sunk. One of my deepest fears was becoming my reality. I knew I was miscarrying, but begged for another possible explanation. As the night passed my cramping got more severe and so did my bleeding. I cramped all through the night and started miscarrying Saturday morning.

Yesterday, October 1st- also the month of loss awareness, I passed what we believe to be the baby. It has been such a hard and heavy past 5 days. I went from praying for my baby to be healthy to praying to pass everything so that I don’t have to keep having to experience heartbreak every time I go to the bathroom. We explained the loss to the kids and it was one of the most gut wrenching conversations I’ve ever had with them. I have been trying to process my emotions, grief, and thoughts. It’s hard to put into words how I feel. How do you explain the feelings for losing something so unexpected, but yet already so loved? My heart just feels so heavy.

Destiniy is one of the best doulas I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. She POURS herself into her work, all while being a mama & wife herself. She puts her clients first, truly cares about them as whole beings, and is always there for others first. She’s brilliant, kind, so sweet, and hilarious. She’s become a friend and I’m so lucky to have her. HIRE HER NOW. You will never regret having more support during birth and postpartum!

I’m so happy I found Destiny to help with my placenta. She was the most caring and understanding of my circumstances and was able to work with me last minute. She picked up my placenta in Nashville immediately after I contacted her and turned around with the product just days after delivery. I am in love with the result and didn’t expect this much touch to the end product. Pictures attached is everything that came with the cost. I love the art that she created, I already put it up in my baby’s nursery. Looking forward to start taking my capsules in the morning. Thank you so much Destiny! 🥰

Destiniy was my doula for my second baby! Having a physiologic water birth was important to me and I knew I wanted a doula to help me through that journey. Through my research I found Destiniy and reached out to her. She wanted to meet me in person and talk over coffee, which I thought was so nice! Destiniy has such a calming nature and you feel like you've known her much longer after only first meeting her. Throughout our first meeting she suggested many resources for me to use in preparation for birth like podcasts, books, etc. She was a wealth of knowledge to me before I even decided to have her as my doula. It was obvious just how passionate she is about supporting women in pregnancy and birth and I loved her holistic mindset. Throughout my pregnancy she helped me get my birth plan together and suggested some questions that I ask my provider prior to birth. Destiniy is very passionate about women being fully informed and having the birth they desire. I am so glad I had her by my side throughout my labor process. She was right there with me as soon as we got to the birth center, which was a good hour away. She helped me so much with her encouragement and pain relief techniques, and I was able to have the water birth I wanted. I am honestly tearful just thinking about it. If you are even slightly considering having a doula attend your birth, I strongly encourage you to follow that through and talk with Destiniy about your desires for your birth! Destiniy was a blessing to my family and I'm confident she would be the same for you and your family.

My wife wanted to hire a doula for the birth of our first child. At first, I was skeptical about why we needed one. After speaking with Destiniy at our consultation, I was sold on the idea that we needed her for our journey. I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful and helpful she was throughout my wife’s pregnancy and during the birth. Destiniy is full of knowledge and extremely helpful. We could not have had the amazing birth of our child without her. If you’re thinking about hiring a doula, look no further. Destiniy is an amazing doula and wonderful person.

We got into searching for a doula late in the game (I was already close to the 3rd trimester) due to an insurance mix up that we weren’t informed of until late, which meant the natural birth center we were going to have our baby at was not going to be covered, and also meant a traditional hospital birth. My husband and I searched all over and finally a friend put us in touch with Destiniy, and thankfully she had some openings available around my due date. She has been worth every cent! So informative, and also the best advocate for what we wanted for delivering our baby. I can’t imagine how things would have gone down for us without her. We had a few virtual meetings before the first time we met her which was when I was in prodromal labor. The day I actually got admitted and was in active labor we were placed in a tiny triage room for 4 hours. I didn’t have access to a shower for pain management, but Destiniy was prepared to help with that. She took initiative and got peribottles, filled them with warm water so she and my husband could pour them down my back, had a tens unit there for me and a rebozo, and played birth affirmations. It was so helpful for Adam to have someone there to give some guidance and help us navigate a long and stressful labor, especially when we finally got admitted the providers there were not the most helpful and lacked bedside manner. My contractions slowed down and I had to be put on Pitocin to speed things up (and going without any pain relief) on top of discovering baby girl was sunny side up—things got drawn out, but all turned out okay in the end and our sweet little girl was born happy and healthy! I feel like Destiniy was indispensable and truly redeemed what would have been such a disorienting and stressful experience to a first birth that I can look back on positively! It would have been traumatizing without her additional guidance and knowledge, because of how some of the medical staff treated me. I felt so much more empowered, and my husband and I are both So grateful that God put Destiniy in our path.

We decided to hire Destiniy when we found out we were pregnant with our first. I knew that having a doula and an advocate can drastically decrease your risk for c-section and unnecessary interventions, so it was an easy decision for us. Even being considered a high-risk pregnancy, Destiniy was with us every step of the way. She provided us with a ton of education and resources to prepare for the birth with and to help us be prepared as parents. When we were told by our OB that we needed to be induced at 37 weeks, Destiniy was there alongside us through every emotion and fear. She brought calm and insight into every decision. I was honestly unsure of how useful my doula could be for me without having an unmedicated, physiological birth, but she proved that an advocate is always a great tool to have. We had such a difficult and terrifying/traumatic birth experience and I cannot imagine how much worse it would have been without Destiniy being there. I will forever be grateful for her calm in the biggest storm of our lives. She helped my husband advocate for me and reminded us of what we wanted before everything went downhill. I cannot say this enough- maternal/ fetal Healthcare is severely lacking and hiring Destiniy made the experience one to look back on with admiration. Even during birth, she took videos and pictures for us that we look back on with love and tears. After our birth, Destiniy continued to check in on us and our little one. She provided us counsel and advice, especially with our babe being in the NICU and me struggling with severe baby blues and PPA. She is assisting us in dealing with our birth trauma and looking at how we can report the abuse and neglect we suffered prior to her arrival at the hospital. She even cooked us food and brought it to our home after we got settled in. It is evident that Destiniy truly loves caring for mamas, daddies, and babies. She believes in our bodies and what we can do, even when OBs don't. I have nothing but love for Destinity and will always recommend her. No matter your birth type, high or low risk, be kind to yourself and hire Destiniy. You will be cared for no matter what.
